Smoking: There have been a number
of occasions recently when team managers/coaches have been seen to be smoking whilst coaching their teams on the
touchline during matches. Their connection to the club/team has been obvious as they were wearing club tracksuits
etc. Whilst it is not strictly against the relevant Codes of Conduct we are sure you will all agree that there
is a duty on all to set a good example to players under their control and would therefore ask that all managers
etc. consider refraining from smoking at those times.
There seems to be some confusion as
to the procedure when a KO Cup match is still drawn after normal time.
Rule 23A states that extra time will be played to determine a winner - duration for extra time are listed in rule
10 and varies by age group.
If the score is still level after extra time then penalties kicks will be taken in accordance to current FA rules.
Current FA rules are "Both teams take 5 kicks. If, before both teams have taken 5 kicks, one team has scored
more goals than the other could score, even if it were to complete its 5 kicks, no more kicks are taken. If, after
both teams have taken 5 kicks, both have scored the same number of goals, kicks continue to be taken in the same
order until one team has scored a goal more than the other from the same number of kicks (commonly called "sudden
death"). This applies to mini-soccer as well as 11-a-side matches."
If any match has been played this season and less than five kicks were taken, then the result will stand as both
managers had agreed with the result at the time!
Easington Sports U13's and Old Woodstock Town CJS U13's have withdrawn from
the league. There fixtures in the league now become 'available to play' with the KO Cup opponents getting a BYE.
Their record is expunged.

FA Handbook 2010/2011 and Rules:
The latest FA Handbook can now be viewed online at here. Please remember that just because an issue is not covered in the
League's own handbook - it does not mean it is not already covered in the FA rules. Actually rules for mini-soccer
are here. Many rules that you must adhere to are actually FA rules - many
of those in the WDYFL handbook are the variations to those rules.
Names on Shirts: At the recent meeting for new secretaries/managers the question was asked whether players' names
can appear on their shirts. The relevant FA Regulations state that "The name
of a player may appear on the back of shirts...only if Competition rules so permit..."
The WDYFL Rules do NOT contain such provision and so names of shirts are not permitted!
Respect letter from FA: A letter has been received by WDYFL from the FA ragarding
their 'Respect' campaign. You can read the letter by clicking here.
Handbook Amendments are already being received and updated can be viewed here. The amendments contain personal information and so are stored in an area which required password access. You need to contact you Club Secretary for more details about gaining access to this secure area. An email update is also sent out regularly - please contact the League Press Officer if you are not on the email list for WDYFL news and updates.
Mixed Football Update: As the FA trial of mixed football at older age groups has now finished with girls now only being allowed to play mixed football up to and including U11. There is no longer any limit on the number of girls that can sign onto teams up to and including U11's. Previously it was a maximum of four now there is no limit to the number of girls that can sign onto a team that has boys in it.
